We have done research on past attempts to solve the first/last mile and lack of accessibility problem. The following sources are past and current attempts to solve the problem.
Lime Scooters:
Lime provides the an alternative mode of transportation for users to reach necessary services. Lime uses an app to locate and rent out electric scooters so that users do not need to walk multiple miles to reach services. Lime is unique as it is committed not only providing accessible transportation but also using green, renewable energy.
Lime Scooters provided a service that removes the first/last mile as it offers accessible transportation directly to the user. However, it has been banned in many cities as the scooters had been left in the middle of sidewalks, roads, and caused traffic in the cities.

VBikes
VBikes provides an alternative mode of transportation available to people in order to help them access necessary services. VBikes uses an app to help facilitate the renting, scanning, and obtaining of a VBike to ride. The VBike is also a green mode of transportation.
VBikes addressed the accessibility problem by allowing people who couldn't afford to take a Uber, and who weren't near a bus stop to get to where they needed to go. They did this by placing these bikes all throughout the city, and allowing people to drop them off wherever.
